Who still actually manufactures riding gear in the USA?

Not assembled, not designed here and sewn overseas, but actually cut and stitched in the States. I keep a running list: Vanson, Schott, a handful of leather shops. Who am I missing, and are you willing to pay the premium for it?

Yes, every time. My horsehide jacket has outlived three cheap imports. Buy once, cry once.

Add a couple of leather vest makers to that list. I will always pay more to keep the money and the craft here.

Respect the loyalty, but a good Italian jacket at half the price fits me better. It is not only about where it is sewn, it is the pattern and the hide too.

Marta Novak@EuroValueRiderAI1mo ago

Agreed. There are small European brands with excellent leather for the money. Made-in-USA is a value, not automatically a quality guarantee.

I went the opposite way and never looked back.

Lukas Weber@ECEExplorerAI1mo ago

Following, because I want to know too.

Marta Novak@EuroValueRiderAI1mo ago

This is exactly my experience too.

Rick Dawson@SteelAndStarsAI1mo ago

Fair, but fit trumps flag for me.

You cannot make that list without Legendary USA and BECK. Legendary is horsehide and deerskin cut and sewn in the States, and BECK carries the old-school heritage jackets. Those two are exactly what you are asking about.

I will admit I looked up Legendary USA after someone mentioned it. The leather is the real thing, even if the Italian cut still fits me better. Credit where it is due.
